5,Character: Magnesium carbonate (light density) is white, friable masses or unconsolidated white odorless powder. Relative
density is 2.2 and melting point is 350℃. It’s stable in air. When heated to 700℃, it decomposes to carbon dioxide and magnesium
oxide. It’s almost insoluble in water, but it imparts a slight alkaline reaction. It is insoluble in ethanol, but dissolves in
dilute acids with effervescence.
